Hi Mike - you are correct, the install message is the right one for the
bootstrap. You have hit a problem that a few others have hit. the kernel
used for the install is not the same as the installed kernel, and on some
machines, the installed kernel does not boot.
You can get out of this by:
1) download 2.4.4-6.2mdk kernel from the mirror sites, and put it on a
machine on your local network
2) boot the CD in rescue mode
3) mount your "/" partition on /mnt/disk
4) enable networking on your "rescued" machine (insmod bmac or whatever),
and assign an appropriate IP number
5) cd /mnt/disk
6) ftp the kernel from step 1 to this dir
7) cd ..
8) chroot /mnt/disk
9) rpm -i kernel-2.4.4-6.2mdk.ppc.rpm
10) verify new entry in /etc/yaboot.conf (244-62) - otherwise set it up
11) exit
12) reboot and select 244-62
If that boots OK, change the default in /etc/yaboot.conf
