Hi all, I just tested the new beta, and when it is finished, it is really worth considering. Many things that did not worked with 8.0 are now there. But Beta seems to have quite a few problems left. I have to do some checking but first try was like follows: I have G4mp with 2 450 Mhz processors and adaptec scsi card with no devices added at a moment. And Finnish keyboard which seems to be working now. Thanks. - When installing, cups printing system complained about missing RPM. Have to check that cd image is correctly downloaded. - I had to write setenv boot-device by hand, this was also with 8.0. No problem really. - Only failsafe kernel booted. Default gave following mesages at end: Kernel free SCB list 1 0 Untaggged Q(1): 2 DevQ(0:1:0):0 waiting qinpos = 0 SCB Index 3 Kernel Panic: Loop 1 Rebooting in 180 s - When I started KDE, there was no sound. - When I tried to set up Display with Control Center and after that by hand, I got error that could not read V_Bios 5 or something like that. Can't check right now. - Next time I tried to start X, it did not started. I tried to return old configuration, but at a moment x wopnt start. Maybe I will update from install CD. It propably fixes this easiest. - When I tried to use Package Manager, I was able to crash it repeatedly by selecting new packages and clicking +/- sign in list (there were no new packages).
Should I report these more closely? If I get this working, I'll try to install smp-kernel. Thanks to everyone working with this distribution. I think it is good,when finished.
