What you might be hitting is that the configuration tool, post install
does not currentlty have the PPC mod I made in the install to for fbdev
for r128, as it seems to be a particularly problematic card.

Try adding:

Option    "UseFBDev"

In the "Device" section of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. I'll try to get this
into CVS.
