I've addressed the text-mode "magic" error, so that should go away in the next ISO. FWIW, on the 7600, I uncheck both of the BootX boxes for altering the video settings (Force Video, NoVideo), and don't specify any kernel arguments, using the 2.4 kernel (plain vmlinux, all.gz), and I can get the graphical installer to come up in a usable mode.
