i had the same exact problem last week.. i think the problem is that you need free space on your harddrive(at the end maybe?) BEFORE you start the installer. how i solved it was go to custom disk partioning and delete the partions where i wanted to install mandrake. after it wrote the partions to disk(with the free space at the end) i forced a restart by just holding down the power key. i'm sure you could just delete the partions using pdisk but this worked for me. now i have free space BEFORE i even start the installer. then just went to custom partioning and auto allocate.... i hope this helps! mike
