Actually, this laptop isn't mine, rather a friend of mine's. A while ago,
(8.0 Beta 2), a DiskDrake issue converted her data partition to swap space,
so she gave up on Linux. Now, Mac OS has crashed, and I convinced her to
give Linux a try again, but my friend with the CD burner is on a trip. So,
for a week or two, I'm stuck with 8.0 Beta 2. Once I get it running, I can
do a local install of 8.2 Beta 2, but until then...

Why is it that everything happens at once? ;-)

Actually, I haven't used any video=arguments for some time. You certainly
don't need them just to boot the machine. What is the problem - X?

Please send:

dmesg | grep fb
