Until now, I succeeded. I did a text install with a 2.4 kernel on a PM 7600.
In the beginning it didn't work because I did a graphics install. I saw a
lot of strange lines. After reboot and setting initrd and vmlinuz, I get an
error message, saying:
Kernel panic. No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel

Do I need to put something in the kernel arguments field ?

Here's what I put in my BootX on my 8500

Kernel = vmlinuz-2.4.18-6.1mdk
Ram Disk=8192
under the options button I set the Ram disk = initrd-2.4.18-6.1mdk.img
more kernel options =  devfs=mount root=/dev/sdb5 (change the sdb5 to your root partition)

Many thanks to stew for helping me get this straight
