o It's a non-forking multithreaded server => for big servers you need
less hardware (e.g. less load) and no clients will get connection
errors.
o It's written in pike, a interpreter-language, so it is possible to
add, delete or update/exchange every module on the fly without recompiling.
Roxen uses modules for everything, quit more than Apache.
o SSL3-Support up to 168bits builtin (40bit for international version),
no patches necessary
o Very useful WWW-administration for each server, global variables,
and shutdown/restart-action, SSL is supported. Configuration is
much easier, as you work with your web-browser of your choice and
there are a lot of help-texts.
o Additional modules for less work:
- EMail-WWW-Frontend (do you want to rebuild hotmail?)
- User-Authentification against SQL-databases
- Converts text into 'Text GIFs' using TrueType-fonts, e.g.
<gtext>Hello world</gtext> would produce a gif with a antialiased
text.
- SQL-tags to query/insert into a DBMS
- Wizard-generator to make something like those 'assistents' in windows.
- Macro-Language to build up your own tags...
o And a lot more...
You may inform yourself under:
- http://www.roxen.com/ (Roxen itself)
- http://source.riverweb.com/ (Third-Party-modules)
Well, once you have worked a week or more, you never will touch a Apache
again. But it is a bit hard to understand all possibilities...
Ciao, Oliver
