Hi!
I have tried Corels distribution, and the their lilo menu is really nice. So is
the screen that says "Linux loading..." until the X window appears.
I haven't checked how this was acomplished, but it seems they have used lilo,
and the source is available.
I believe a similar scheme would benefit Mandrake as well. New users will not
be intimidated by the many messages from kernel and loading programs, while the
more experienced can turn the feature of permanently by reinstalling lilo with
new options, or pressing shift(or some other dead key) at boot time.
