I just downloaded and burned Oxygen 7 and I had to experiment with
different install levels and mine was a clean install but had the same
icon problem or lack of therein, that David Hart had so I don't think
it's just an upgrade issue.
The problems so far are that even though I see a module for my
Soundblaster Live chipset (emu10k1) in the lib modules misc folder,
running sndconfig doesn't recognize it.
The other problem is I can't get my scrollwheel to work here as I did
with 6.1 no problem. Do I need an older version of imwheel?
On a good note, this thing boots up real fast and my hard drive
screams! I hope I can get this to work properly as the install program
is more reliable in my machine than was 6.0 and 6.1 or anything based on
the RedHat 6.0 install program. I just need my scrollwheel and my
Soundblaster Live to work properly and I'll even be happy with this
Beta. This install also recognized my Cd burner scsi, My Cdrom that I
use for music because it has a digital output directly to the sp/dif
port on the SB Live, and my DVD rom. I also like the supermount that you
can unmount by hitting the eject button.
I think we're on the right track here!
