Hi,
I've made an oxygen cd from the mirror last friday and I'm trying to
install it to a PIII 400 with 64MB ram and a Diamond videocard which has a
SiS 6326DVD chip on it.
When I install in expert mode and select everything all seems to go well.
I selected 16 million colors (24 bits) and a resolution of 1024x768
pixels.
I also selected the only targa monitor in the list (since the system has a
targa monitor attached to it.
After hitting the test button I get:
An error occurred:
could not open default font 'fixed'
try changing some parameters
and an OK button.
ctrl-alt F7 gives me:
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your localte settings:
LANGUAGE = "en_US:en",
LC_ALL = "en",
LANG = "en"
are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").
Loading /usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/querty/us.kmap.gz
Added floppy
Added linux *
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs: /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions: No such file or
directory
Now this seems to me that in a very early stage when I select my language
and keyboard the installscript gives me some warnings and later for some
reason the x fontserver doesn't get started.
Next to all this I get some strange errors on ctrl-alt F1:
<snip>
error opening security policy file
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy
GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to: No such user 0. (HEY, I've
read this one before in the list)
and some:
Gdk-ERROR **: X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server
shutdown).
Anyone have a clue to why this is happening. I'd love to give my collegues
a CD that contains Mandrake so they can all see how great linux really is
at home, but they typically have this kind of a system at home (nice
private PC projects rule). It would be great if this setup would be
spotlessly clean.
Greetingz,
SynQ
