Ok I followed your advice and used ltrace. It crashes at a strcmp where it is
trying to compare eth0 with junk:

strncmp("ONBOOT=yes", "DEVICE", 6)                = 11
strcmp("eth0", NULL <unfinished ...>
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) ---
+++ killed by SIGSEGV +++

Now I noticed that in linuxconf, the tab for adaptor 1 is enabled
but there is nothing there! My first adaptor that actually contains data is
adaptor 2. Where does linuxconf store it's information? Can I change it
manually? BTW, linuxconf was fine before Oxygen running on Mandrake 6.1.
Perhaps the upgrade screwed up the network configuration? I told it not to mess
with it., but obviously it did since it changed my hostname back to
localhost.localdomain.
