I installed oxygen the other day, finally started playing around
with it. Here's a few problems I noted.

etherconfig:
Instant warm boot, no warning, no nothing. Run the program and,
bang, my machine is booting.

sndconfig:
Finally recognises my GUS PnP Pro card and configures it. Hurrah!
But the resulting sound is unlistenable, every half second of sound is
repeated. viz: if the sound to be played is: "I'm riding in your
car", it will be played as
"I'm riI'm ri ding inding in your cayour ca" This doesn't really
matter to me as I intend to use the ALSA drivers anyway.

drakxconf:
[root@localhost /root]# drakxconf

DrakX:
It's nice! Great splash screen to start with. However I find the
package selection screen to be confusing with just the dark green and
dark gray colours. I have no idea whether I'm selecting or
unselecting packages.

Also, if I make a mistake in selecting the size of installation,
there's no way out except to reboot. I made a 1.4 gig partition for
Oxygen and tried to select everything (that should be one of the
options, BTW). DrakX said it was going to install about 700 MB of
stuff but that I'd have the option later of adding more stuff (I was
in Expert mode). A slider came up, asking how big of an installation
did I want. I set it to 1400 MB. Away went the installation only
to barf out at the very end, saying it needed 40 MB on the /mnt
partition. I went back to the slider screen and set it to 1200. I
deselected some packages to reduce the installation size. This
made no difference; it still tried to install 1440 MB on a 1400 MB
partition.

Only by rebooting was I able to make better selections and have them
apply.

That whole part about selecting size of installation is
confusing.

Lothar:
The window label "Informations" is misspelled, it should be just
"Information".

None of my SCSI devices are detected, though both my SCSI cards are
properly detected. It did not detect 3 SCSI hard drives, CD-ROM,
CD-RW, scanner or tape drive.

My sound card (ISA GUS PnP Pro) wasn't detected.
My modem (Zoom 2919 on ttyS3) wasn't detected.

I was pleased to see that KDevelop 1.0 was included in oxygen. I
was disappointed, however, in that many of the packages/utilities it
uses (glimpse, sgml2html, c/c++ reference) weren't included.

 Cheers, Rob
