This attempt was tried on a DELL. It is an old pentium 133Mhz chip. It uses
9fx graphics card(I think that is what it is called) and a Sony 200sx
monitor. The rest of the computer is the generic DELL hardware that comes
with it. I tried to install Oxygen using a CD iso I downloaded from tucows
and burnt to a blank CD. This is how I usually obtain differrent Linux
dists. I also checked the checksum to make sure everything was burnt to the
disk correctly. So I guess it was a cd that I used for the install media. I
just loaded it into the drive and booted the computer. I got the standard
install boot screen that comes with all of the Redhat/Mandrake distribution
so I pressed the enter key to continue with the Install. That's where all
the problems start. I was going to try and install it on my computer at home
which is similar but has a generic packard bell graphics card and monitor
along with an AMD K5 133Mhz chip. They usually work about the same except
the AMD runs faster than the Pentium. (But that seems to happen alot with
these older chips). Anyways, I'll try to get that going this weekend and see
if it works. I'll let you know. If you need anymore info about my earlier
attempt to install let me know.
Thanx,
SA

Oxygen is BETA, but I can't even install it on my machine to test it. After
the install software initialized the CDrom, it went into second stage
install. I then received the following error message before it went down:

happenning? I've never had a problem installing any of the other Mandrake
distributions on this box before, so I assumed that Mandrake would have
carried over the same video drivers for this distribution. But I can't even
get past this error message to install it.
