Ok. The video card for this particular box is a 9fx motion 771 made by
number nine technologies. All other Mandrake distributions have installed
nicely on this computer, so maybe Oxygen is missing the correct drivers?
Also, I've installed Oxygen on my home computer which uses a generic HP card
and monitor with an AMD k5 chip. Only problems on install was that it did
not recognize my mouse right off so I had to use the keybord to go through
the installation. This was not a problem until I got to choose the packages
because I could not scroll down to chose any of the last few packages that
were not visible without scrolling down.
Also, I get a Kernel panic right off when I boot and have to use the boot
disk I made during install. LILO also has made it difficult to get back
into my Win98 partition. I had to move Win 98 below the linux section of
lilo.conf before I waqs able to boot into windows. Also, I think LILO has
messed up my BeOS partition because when I choose to boot into that partion,
I get to the Be boot screen but it does not boot up and just freezes. This
never happened before on any of the other distributions. I normally run this
box with Linux, Win98, and Be on the computer with no problems.
Last and hopefully final problem I have run into is, I can't get into my
cdrom or floppy drives when I'm in root. I tried to mount or unmount and I
was refused access to these drives. The file icons for these drives in KDE
show that they have belts around the files, but I thought this was for
restricted access as a user. I get this as root. Am I missing something?
Thanx again, and sorry this is so long.
SA
