i'm trying to install the 7.0 beta on a notebook with a pcmcia network
card. i transfer the pcmcia.img file to a floppy and boot from it,
but then the installer claims that it doesn't recognize my hardware.
my hardware is a brand-new linksys/network-everywhere pcmcia (not
cardbus) card that behaves like an NE2000, and the model appears in
the installation menu. i tried the card in a windows notebook and it
is indeed working.
on a nearly-identical notebook i was able to install mandrake 6.1
using a 3com etherlink III card (model 5x895d, i believe). alas, the
7.0 beta doesn't support the etherlink III yet.
how can i troubleshoot this further?
