your fix works like a charm. you fixed it good. so good, got this blue screen
half way thru bootup (at checking for new h/w prompt) and it was "kudzo's tool"
errr... something like that. went by so fast, that i just have to guess that
was the scsi cdrom.
Also note: when specifing "shutdown" my computer is no longer turning itself
off when the shutdown process is completed and it gets to the "Power down"
prompt. No auto power off. (eh, should i rebuild the kernel yet? lol)
To get the `scsi cdrom read-only' working w/ the `ide cd-rw device', posted the
following:
i've got anther cd-rom. not only another cdrom. a scsi cdrom read only. lol
WD ~25 GB HDD (ide1)a (hda) bootable
xxx nothing on this port! (ide1)b (xxx) nothing
LS120 Imitation Floppy (ide2b) (hdd) 120mb floppy bootable
HP 7200i CD-RW (ide2a) (hdc) 2x 4x 6x bootable
(reversed the 2 positions above)
SCSi 1520b/22b Adaptec ISA as aha152x=0x340,11,7 bootable?-unknown
TEAC 32x (Read Only) CD-Rom
Before i got the scsi isa card, mandrake was scsi emulating w/ just entering
the appropriate command in the lilo.conf (append="hdc=ide-scsi").
After entering the actual scsi cdrom and scsi card, sometimes all xcdroast will
see is the teac as a cdrom burner and read device.
Sometimes i get a Matsumi ls120 and Imatation ls120 (the first as scsi and last
as ide).
Finally it's now seeing my HP CD-RW as an IDE and it's listing within the
xcdroast list but it's not putting it as "scsi-ide" as specified.
I'll attach some files (lilo, conf.modules, etc).
In the mean time, i'm going to further trouble shoot it and switch the master
to slave and slave to master. have my doubts tho'.
!RESOLVED: I have smp, as such: made the necessary changes to the following "
instructions.!
mkinitrd -v /boot/mw.img 2.2.14-11mdksmp
*notice the "smp", other wise, if one has smp and doesn't add the "smp" it will
not work!! (Figured this out after yanking out all of the my ide and power
cables)
Well, now to put it back together.
Still detecting the scsi TEAC 32x's (read-only) cd-rom as a writable within
Xcdroast!
If you want the config files, let me know. It's late and i'm just trying to
make this readable.
