(a little messy but works!)
If i did not have the "scsi cdrom (read only) and scsi adapter", the kernel
would recognize the hp 7200i after entering the hdc=ide-scsi (think i only had
to enter that into lilo for recognition?). This wouldn't just do after adding
the scsi read only drive and the scsi adapter a couple of days ago! So, I had
to do the following:
In order for the cd-rw to use ide-scsi, I need to enter at boot "test
hdc=ide-scsi". If i only enter "test" at boot, it does not recognize the cd-rw
as scsi. Let me know if you want dmesg file w/o entering "hdc=ide-scsi" on
boot.
To setup, I followed directions as the following site, which included entering
the mkinitrid command (which is the reason for the "test" w/i lilo! it was the
onlly was i could get the scsi cdrom to work w/ the ide-scsi'd cd-rw
device......confusing!)

"mkinitrd -v /boot/mw.img 2.2.14-11mdksmp" is the command that i needed to use
to redo the lilo to MAKE the ide recoginzed.
