I for one hardly doubt you will ever be out of a job servicing windows
machines, considering the arch of windows and the oh so many different
type's of hardware setup' out there....

What exactly constitutes average intelligence in a person?
A brother of mine is a CA, CFO, and in the multi million range now
trading stocks, because he was board doing the accounting thing, but
dag nap it, if he ever has to go into control panel to adjust a setting
on the machine, which i dont mind collecting something on the side to
do some simple config on his comps, but i'm quite certain if he put
his time and energy into comps he would kick the "average" programmers
butt. For one, I'm rather happy he does not have the TIME to read a
manual on comps ( more examples on request )

Yes, dont forget about. just turning on the machine, or doing some
surfing with their browser locking up with that pretty blue picture

Yes again

Always the case...

Sorry Hugo, not a Flame in any regard, really I'm just venting i guess,
and also, sorry to the list for this vent,

I have been on these list for quite awhile now ( newbie to cooker,
month or so ) I just wish that, with Linux moving out of the area of
" geekness" too a main stream desktop, "average user" environment,
where the new'ist user coming aboard, who are tired of MS, and are
looking for a slight increase in control of there computers, is for the
more literate comp user's here, who have spent there time in comps and
OS's, would begin to realize, with that move to the so called "desktop
environment', and the realization that FREE support is available for
user of any Linux OS,

that questions that appear "stupid" and mundain, to a seasoned vet,
will begin , rather are beginning to show up on the list's, ( i have
posted quite a few myself ) and with companies posting beta's and
opening up their beta's list to these newbies, those mundain question
will show up here also. Just the fact someone new to Linux actually is
posting these "stupid" or "mundain" questions, tells me there more than
willing to get in and mess with the config files of the system, even if
it means breaking something..

My wish, for some of the more knowledgable people in comps and Linux,
to have a wee bit more tolerance with the so called "average
intelligence" crowd that are moving to Linux , and hence the list's that
support said system........I am quite certain, some of the more
"average intelligent" person's who subscribe to these list's, who have
more time to indulge in there fancies, and jump feet first into Linux,
can do some things that would knock anyone's socks off.

I guess my point is, inteliigence is one thing, having the time, and
fiduring out how to do something new, is another.

OK.... end of vent, actually this probably should be a seperate
posting, and may even get me booted from the list, but like i said,
Hugo, not directed at you personally, and it's my hope you will not
take it personally, i just wish some people would stop refering to
others as "stupid" or less intelligent, than others, simply because
their do not have time to fully read up on some things that are new to
them at the start, because eventually their will pick up the book.

Ok let the brow beating begin....
