found in %pre of linuxconf:

        if [ -f /etc/inittab.old ] ; then
                cp /etc/inittab /usr/lib/linuxconf/uninstall/inittab.beforeupgrade
                mv -f /etc/inittab.old /etc/inittab

maybe that's the pb?
