Same thing here. I have had this problem for two weeks
know, but I though it was something particular to me.

This is the error when trying to run any applet:

[root@fulgore:~]# tasklist_applet 

** WARNING **: Cannot activate a panel object

** WARNING **: Cannot start CORBA
[root@fulgore:~]# 

The last time I had a similar CORBA problems was
because a package upgrade changed the permissions on
/etc/CORBA but this time I haven't found what it is.
