           Product: drakconf
         Component: program
Summary: MCC does not configure modem internet connection
           Version: 9.1-6mdk
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm a bit new to this, so I was too hasty when initiating bug 3047. This is the
real problem: I try to use Mandrake Control Center to configure my internet
connection using my USR/3COM 56K fax modem model 5610, and it fails. The
ethernet card is detected, and the configuration utility will not configure the
modem, and keeps assuming that the eth0 device is the one I want to use for
internet connection. In fact, I noticed that even though I installed with the
internet client option checked, KPPP was not installed. After I installed KPPP,
I was able to configure it to make a dial-up connection to the internet, and all
works well. I presume that the MCC configuration process would want to invoke
KPPP at some point, so I don't understand why it was not installed, and why the
configuration process did not work.
