Hello,

Well, I've just set my wife up with a user account and introduced her to her
own Netscape setup etc., ect.. However, just like me (many times already) she
asked "Why do I have to click on kppp, why doesn't it bring up kppp
automatically".

I have to agree with this. I have tried many times to get diald and kppp to
work together but, as my Linux programming knowledge is practically nil, not at
the source code level. Diald is fine but has a major drawback - if you don't
want to connect you have to either stop it manually from the command line (not
exactly great for a newbie) or wait for 5 minutes before it realises you don't
even have a modem attached. Moreover if you want the choice of how you want to
procede (connect manually, connect automatically, work offline etc.) there is
no GUI to easily achieve this.

After all this time surely this is acheiveable ! I would love to do this
myself, but at the moment I think someone would have to 'hold my hand' all the
way. (I am starting to get into Linux development and hope to be able to give
more than just bug reports !!!) I also cannot believe I am the only one who
would find this useful.

Thanks,
Owen
