------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-11 12:04 ------- Now I've made a complete new installation of ML9.1 RC2 (still standard kernel) and I get a different message now pinging the gateway computer (192.168.1.1), not anymore "ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted", but: PING 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) from 192.168.1.2 : 56(84) bytes of data. >From 192.168.1.2 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable >From 192.168.1.2 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable ... Even if I enabled the kernel option "force no apic" during the new installation, the boot messages say, that APIC is enabled: Linux version 2.4.21-0.11mdk ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 3.2.2 (Mandrake Linux 9.1 3.2.2-2mdk)) #1 Fri Feb 28 13:51:48 CET 2003 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000f0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000000dff0000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000dff0000 - 000000000dff8000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000000dff8000 - 000000000e000000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 00000000ffee0000 - 00000000fff00000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fffc0000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) 223MB LOWMEM available. There is one more thing I noticed. It was assigned by the system and I can not find it in any config file. What does this IP mean? ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: As already reported in bug#: 2525 for ML9.1 RC1 this bug is still valid in ML 9.1 RC2. After trying the suggestions in bug#: 2525 I still can not connect to other computers in the LAN. ifconfig shows me correctly the device and pinging the device itself on the same box works out korrectly, but pinging another PC from this box I get a: "ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted". Pinging the device from other computers I get a "host not reachable". The SIS900 network device is on motherboard: K7SOM+ with CPU AMD Athlon XP 2000. Thanks for any help!
