A reboot is needed (alt sysrq b). Once so far I was prompted for my password (??!) and then my desktop reappeared. This only happens in X (KDE). If I am in console mode the system wakes up fine. This happens as well with apmd 3.1.0-1mdk. It does *not* happen if I drop back to apmd 3.0.2-1mdk. Then system sleep works fine in both console and X mode.
