------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED]  2003-03-15 10:30 -------
I have synched my whole test box to Cooker as of 13th March. I have installed
the new /usr/sbin/drakgw file above and enabling connection sharing still kills
internet access for the desktop machine.

I looked for messages while I was setting up connection sharing and found that
DHCP is unable to start up. It complains that...

"Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd: No subnet declaration for eth0 (0.0.0.0).
Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd: ** Ignoring requests on eth0. If this is not what
Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd: you want, please write a subnet declaration
Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd: in your dhcpd.conf file for the network segment
Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd: to which interface eth0 is attached. **
Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd:
Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd:
Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost dhcpd: Not configured to listen on any interfaces!"

However, /etc/dhcp.conf seems to be valid...
"ddns-update-style none;
subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
        # default gateway
        option routers 192.168.1.1;
        option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0;

        option domain-name "localdomain";
        option domain-name-servers 192.168.1.1;

        range dynamic-bootp 192.168.1.16 192.168.1.253;
        default-lease-time 21600;
        max-lease-time 43200;
}"

Not sure what's going on here but it looks like drakgw is having further
troubles also. There appear to be some "sys failed"s in there...

"Mar 15 09:02:40 localhost drakgw[3037]: [drakgw] Warning, sys failed for
/etc/rc.d/init.d/dhcpd start >/dev/null
