Depends if you were running Reiser (the only available journalling fs at
that stage) or not. Reiser 2.x was not fun after 6 months on a busy
fileserver. Upgraded to 2.4.2 (and ran some of the reiser tools), which
made it livable, but I don't like maintaining custom kernels on
production machines, I prefer having Vince do it for me ;-).

BTW, similar experience with Reiser on 7.2 also, whereas we never had
problems on 8.0, in fact our virus-scanning-mail/web/proxy box is still
running on ReiserFS (except /boot), with a load average of pretty close
to 1.0 all day. It would be nice to have a newer php on it though ...
