I think everyone would hate the fact that they couldn't replace v9.0 with v9.1 since v9.1 was determined "unstable" for production use.
As far as KDE/Gnome or any other non-Mandrake specific app, we can only spec out the "stable" apps and how the dependency apps/packages are reliable as well. Many of the major apps, like Mozilla, just made official releases this month as well as last. Many distributions have to catch up if they expect to have a quality release with the latest tools. I don't think any company would wisely release a product that crashes within the first few hours of install but there are official releases of OSes that fail to install older apps or need a few patches or configs to get things working again. Sometimes its the fault of the OS provider and sometimes the app developer. One of the main things is to identify what apps work and which ones do work with Mandrake v9.1(RC) earlier in the testing cycle so issues can/may get resolved NOW before release. Just my penny stock opinion... ~Ken ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Brickey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, March 17, 2003 4:08 PM Subject: Re: [Cooker] GNOME 2.2.1 Desktop > >But this does mean that 9.1 goes out the door with KDE and KDE > >apps unable to run in Xnest or vnc.
