I believe you can create the Partition Magic rescue disks from the PM
CD under Linux on a machine without Windows.
The first rescue disk is the bootable one - if you have Windows on
your system then MSDOS will be installed on that floppy, if not, PM
installs a public domain version of DOS (Caldera's drdos, I think).
So another DOS is NOT required, and PM is perfectly useable with all
functionality from its own rescue floppies. Although I have it, I
never use the Windows PM installation - to do anything serious it
takes down Windows to MSDOS anyway. I always run it from its DOS
floppies.
