The symptomes are that ggv will open the file and list all the pages as being
there, but won't actually display the text. This is because ghostscript isn't
able to actually access the device "x11alpha". The file permissions being set
by package ghostscript-module-X or ghostscript itself need to be checked. It
seems that the directory "/usr/lib/ghostscript" was owned by root, with
permissions to only allow root access. Once a chmod go+rx is performed on the
directory, the permissions are fine.
You can double check this by simply running gs directly with
"gs -sDEVICE=x11alpha <psfile>". gs should bitch about not finding that device.
Now run the command as root. Everything should now be fine.
