Has anybody had any luck getting USB to work on a A7N8X?

Yes. IIRC, I had problems using the lower 2 ports, but the upper 2 work without any
problems.

OK. I'll try those first.

I have not modified /etc/lilo.conf and /etc/modules.conf from what I got from a
clean installation of 9.1.

Bios settings (as I remember them to be!)

USB Controllers: V1.1+V2.0

this is the same

APIC: disabled

I'm not sure what I set here...

/etc/lilo.conf:
append="devfs=mount acpi=off ide1=ata66 quiet"

append="acpi=off hdd=ide-scsi"

(burner on hdd)

I'll try the devfs and ide appends. looking forward to the extra ide speed :-)

/etc/modules.conf:
alias eth0 3c90x
alias sound-slot-0 i810_audio
probeall usb-interface usb-ohci ehci-hcd
alias ieee1394-controller ohci1394

lsusb -vv shows Bus 001, Bus 002 and Bus 003. Buses 1 and 2 seem to be USB 1.1
and bus 3 seems to be USB 2.0.

OK.

The only thing that bothers me is that Thomas Backlund's patch for Firewire on
the A7N8X deluxe did not make it into the standard kernel :-(

I hope maybe sometime soon. Did you report a feature request (bug) in bugzilla about this?

Stefan
