I fully agree, but this is what the "client" dreams of. Even if the gain is not worth the work, if it allow Mandrake to gain some market share, it may be interesting. And you forget the fact that being able to rebuild easily a RPM would allow easier "unsupported" backport of new contribs packages on a stable system. And it would be easier for the future to rebuild the distro for a new architecture. And, last but not the least , Debian has this sytem ( apt-build, I think ) -- Micha�l Scherer
