Your last message in this thread (the one Adam replied to):

"Unfortunately I find no such kernel config option in the standard 9.2
kernel configurator (make xconfig)."

# rpm -q kernel-source
kernel-source-2.4.21-0.13mdk

If I'm not mistaken, that's the same kernel-source as Mandrake 9.1
shipped with...

Run "make xconfig" again, Ron.

Click on "ATA/IDE/MFM/RLL support"

Now click on "IDE, ATA, and ATAPI block devices"

Scroll down to "Promise PDC202{68|69|70|71|75|76|77} support"

Under that is "Special FastTrak feature"

Click on "Help" next to "Special FastTrak feature"

A dialog appears: "CONFIG_PDC_202XX_FORCE..."

Now, either you're wrong, illiterate, or just not that observant. I can
rule the second option out. Given your tendency to notice minor flaws
and go completely overboard, I doubt the third option.
