what about doing a script to launch jack, which mount a tmpfs on ~/.jack/tmp, and patch jack to use it ?
Hmm, I could try this. It seems so much messier than just telling mount that /tmp/jack should always be tmpfs, but you're right, it's probably safer.
no need to have root privilege ( since it is in home ), and, it is cleaner that changing the fstab without asking.
True, but that's what fstab is made for! Letting you choose appropriate partitions.
name jack jack.bin, and jack should be a script that does lots of initialisation and mount a tmpfs ( and put a warning if not able ). at the end, it launch jack.bin, of course.
