I forgot to mention, it's a Kyocera Smartphone (QCP 6035), connected to the COM1
serial port (thus /dev/ttyS0). It's using plain old serial, not USB. I'm
pressing the hotsync button when pilot-link instructs me to.

(BTW I think another person may be experiencing the same problem here, but I'm
not totally sure:

[barryn barryn]$ export PILOTPORT=/dev/ttyS0
[barryn barryn]$ pilot-addresses -w myaddr.txt

   Listening to port: /dev/ttyS0

   Please press the HotSync button now... Connected

Writing Palm Address Book entries to file... Segmentation fault
[barryn barryn]$ ls -l myaddr.txt
-rw-r--r--    1 barryn   barryn          0 Jun 19 16:34 myaddr.txt

What other information could/should I provide to help debug this? (Would strace
output help?)

FWIW, strace ends with:
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
+++ killed by SIGSEGV +++

So, perhaps it's a null pointer dereference...
