First purely cosmetic but how about some of the cursors on www.kde-look.org or in the
cursors rpm as Default! It would make Mandrake look just a little bit nicer and more
professional
and I think in 9.2 it's going to be the little things that matter as most of the big
ones are already present
In 9.1. The 3d cursor backs would make a good default. Also a nice little drake to
install and or change the
current cursors easily would be nice (if it doesn't already exist).
Also cosmetic but are the Bitstream font's Gnome got access to going to be installed
by default and used by default?
If not that should be done.
Also in First-time Drake with the email client setup how about adding an option to
setup junk-mail filter like spamassassin?
Easy enough todo at least for kmail, all that needs to be done is install Spamassassin
(default package perhaps?) and
add the lines at the bottom of this email to the kmail config file
~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc. It's the Sort of feature most
people would find useful. But be unlikely to be able to set up for them selves or
simply never know that it exists.
Also any thing that would speed the boot up time would be good might be possible to
delay some Services abit?
Parallel load some? As at the moment if Mandrakes trying to mount a network share on
bootup and that share is down it
takes about 30secs for smb to realise that and move on to the next one or carry on
booting if there's several.....!
Something that might take allot more work but making It much Clearer during the
install as to whether your upgrading or
Reinstalling. e.g. Ask "Do you Wish to UPGRADE or do a Fresh Install of Mandrake
Linux" If an old version of Mandrake
is detected.
Finally I agree a Network Icon on the desktop taking you to Network shares would be a
good idea in Both Gnome and Kde!
A link pointing nautilus to smb:/// with a decent icon and name would do in Gnome.

Demo Spamassassin setup for Kmail. It would be better to use spamc and spamd (client
and daemon) as they're faster.
But that would require root access to add the service to the init scripts and run it
which might complicate things abit.
These folders would also need to be created. ~/Mail ~/Mail/cur ~/Mail/tmp ~/Mail/new .
Shouldn't be to hard to create a script
todo this or add it to the current method of setting up kmail and the other mail
programs. I've no idea how to do it for the other mail
apps but I don't think it should be to much harder.
