Thats why I wanted to get modules for the secure kernel too. For multimedia I guess its just installing the mm-sources and compile the same package against it ? Don't know. I think it would be worth to have the highmem patch in normal kernel, as it is not utopic to have 1 Gig of ram in a desktop with current prices.
