Hi,

maybe I have over read something and LVM is already planed for the
future release - then forget this mail.

I'm working since a long time with LVM (Logical Volume Manager) and I
know that a lot of people are too.
Ther was a long fight to get this feature in the already frozen
2.3.-kernel-src but now the 2.4 kernel has this
very nice and useful feature. The client-SW which belongs to the LVM is
also very sable now.

So I was wondering why Mandrake not already has this implemented (SuSE
has done this already in version 6.3).

I think the LVM will be absolutly necessary when Mandrake wants to save
his success in the future.
The LVM should also not only as a rpm available - it belongs to the
basic installation tools - (maybe as implementation in DiscDrake).

The LVM is for many people an argument to use SuSE.

You can find all necessary stuff in the 2.4-kernel-src and under
http://linux.msede.com/lvm/

Thanks a lot

Udo
