#what do you mean by autoconfigure ?
#make the drive available by loading the module and making the dev to
#acces it ?
#make a mount point ?
Maybe 'autoconfigure' is an inaccurate word for what I mean. What I
mean is the following:
1. I put in a hard drive into my computer. This is in a format
readable[/writable] by Mandrake, ie. previously formatted
[and used]
2. When I boot Mandrake linux, a notification popup appears,
telling me
"A new hard drive has been installed. Do you want to
mount it so Mandrake can use it?"
and if so for example
"Proposed mount point: /mnt/win_d"
and the user may choose directory name
3. Mandrake updates /etc/fstab and such (I am new to linux
and don't now the details) to make it happen
All this is what I refer to when I say "autoconfigure"
#> please give me a pointer, and I apologize for taking up your time.
#Yes. Mandrake Control Center -> Mount Points -> Diskdrake
Okey. I tried the Diskdrake program. What I could do there seemed
limited to partitioning tasks, not the mounting which I am talking
about. Am I still off the road?
#Mandrake should not autoconfigure your drive after install ( i.e add a
#mount ) because :
#1/ you may want to give your own mount point name
#2/ which name to choose ?
