Ideally, we would like to keep these. Any idea if the imap method would retain them?
Through imap it's obviously possible to read/set the flags (that's what an imap client does), the problem is that the scripts you tried didn't work, but I suspect it was because you had some malformed messages (headers with 8 bits characters, embedded nulls, bare newlines).
