The /proper/ i18n usage should probably be "Third time's charm." =:^) "Lucky" seems to indicate "charm" translated into some other language, then translated back. <g> So does "is the good one", but the comparison isn't quite as direct, so the usage contrast not quite as abrupt and jarring. <g> (Reminds me of the time growing up in Kenya (as a missionary kid), my mom used the idiom meaning joking, "You are pulling my leg!"
