As i'ma far from an expert in www (and many other things) i was wondering why there is not quickstart tool for apache and mysql.
Since they are a big part of linux history, i think it would be interesting to have them set up carefully with the wizard. For example, you get a wizard for ntp which let everything work perfectly well, a wizward for running apache (Cool) but you are never asked who is able to browse it (i' just installed apache+mysql+phpmyadmin -great job for the packagers, chapeau bas- but i cannot log into my http://localchost/ i get a permission denied : Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. ________________________________________________________________________ Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/2.0.47 (Mandrake Linux/1.1mdk) auth_mysql/1.11 PHP/4.3.1 Server at pc-54-149.kj.uib.no Port 80 The same is true for : http://localhost/admin/phpMyAdmin/ I'm part of mysql and apache group ! I'm not completely asking for support, any help or hint would be appreciated, but do you found this behaviour logical ? I don't : easy to set up but nothing runs out-of-the-box, what's the point in this ? I'm not angry, i'm just surprised than ntp daemon has a wizard dedicated (not bad) but none is present for the LAMP configuration (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP).
