I was reading that DGA 2.0 (Xfree4) causes problems KWinTV and some Gnome
equivalent tool.... is this why people are hainvg these problems? ( it was a
story posted on Duke of URL about Xfree4/3.x )

we did provide xawtv & kwintv on the contrib CD (cd number 3) ...
