I've noticed that when using MdkKDM (Mandrake Display Manager) as the DM of choice, this problem occurs. Sometimes it is impossible to reboot the system. When you logout from KDE you get to the logion screen. There you have the possibility to login again, to reboot or halt the system. Normally in the reboot dialog all the LILO boot options are listed such as linux, windows, floppy etc. But sometimes this dialog is empty and therefor rebooting impossible (halt is the only option).
