My idea is to download the stuff without requesting a user action (but it can notify him), and only ask the root passwd, to do the install of the packages
I am not sure i would love this when my laptop is connected via my GPRS phone. GPRS traffic is charged for kbytes transferred here in Italy :( But there are other low-bandwidth situations where it would be better not start the download automatically.
