With software libre that shouldn't be a problem.  It's perfectly legit for 
someone to make an SRPM with build-options for both, and put it in contrib.  
It should also be perfectly legit, depending on company policy, for main 
packages to be done the same way, even by paid employees, recognizing their 
contribution to the larger community as well as Mdk.
