Your argument is quite invalid while a "linux init=/bin/sh" at boot will effectively
bypass all secuirity. And anyway, if you are root, you are root. And running
explore2fs may be seen as being root. Just make sure to put with it a note in the
same spirit as the Gmc-one that pops upp when you run Gmc as root...

However, I don't have an answer to the question "where to stop"...
