Not a proper response to the problem, but just a question - have you considered removing harddrake? I disable it on my laptop, since I can't really think of any hardware upgrade I could perform on it for which it would be useful - all the stuff I could plug into it would be adequately dealt with by PCMCIA service or hotplug, and harddrake just gets in the way... -- adamw
