System then complains that /dev/dsp is being occupied. same error here, but I cannot play anything at all. No way of dd-ing anything to /dev/dsp. It tries to open the device and then just sits there, fuser doesn't report anything on /dev/dsp. Modules cannot be removed, I always get a "device busy" though I cannot see what's supposed to use it. > I do not have such a problem reproducing the same steps with 9.2beta2 > kernel. > /etc/modules.conf > alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0 > above snd-intel8x0 snd-pcm-oss same here: sis7012 which worked okay with older cooker. I don't have continious cooker on that machine so I cannot tell what the previous versions were. btw, I cannot test kernel 0.8mdk because the kernel-source rpm on uninett reports md5 mismatch which in turn stalls gendistrib.
