And why blindly follow Sun crappy conventions ? Just look at
http://www.zarb.org/horde/chora/co.php/rpms/free/jpackage-utils/jpackage-utils-jvm.list?login=2&rt=jpackage&r=1.4
to see where different vendors install their JVM.
Better use jpackage conventions, as those packages are now included in
contribs. The java executable is accessed through a /usr/bin/java symlink,
managed by alternative.
